Learner Councils

Our student council is the forum where learners can disucuss their concerns and ideas with teachers and the Management Team.

In St Columba's the Learner Council plays an integral and important role in the school community. The Student council provides a representative structure through which students can debate issues of concern and undertake initiatives of benefit to the school and the wider community.

This year elections were held very early in August organised by our senior pupils. Representatives were democratically elected from each class and meet regularly throughout the year.
In order to provide a more encompassing structure, each year group has it's own separate year council which feeds into the overall council. Pupils felt that this increases not only the size of the council but also the variety of issues it addresses.

We hope that you might interested enough to take part in the work of the Learner Council and feel that your participation will contribute to real engagement and involvement in the decision making and life of St Columba's. Being a Learner Council Representative also gives you an opportunity to practise the skills needed to participate everyday as an active citizen.

Children and Young People have a right to be heard in school. This is YOUR opportunity!
