School uniform

uniformThe school uniform policy was recently reviewed by a group of pupils. The group agreed -

that uniform provides an identity as well as promotong pride in the school
research indicates that in schools where there is a strong uniform code the work ethic in increased and attainment is often higher
The following items are recognised as St Columba's school uniform -

  • white / blue school shirt or school blouse school tie
  • black / grey school trousers or skirt (of a modest length)
  • black / grey V-neck jumper or cardigan or black sweatshirt with school badge
  • S1 – S4 : black blazer with school badge
  • S5 – S6 : black blazer with blue braiding
  • black shoes / trainers

uniformPlease note that all items of the school uniform, including blazers, are available in Smith’s of Greenock.

There are some other good reasons for having school uniform -

  • pupil safety – when all pupils wear their uniform it is easy to spot ‘outsiders’ who may be in the premises at interval, lunchtime or other times
  • it avoids costly competition with the latest in fashion and is, therefore, cheaper
  • the public image of the school tends to be formed by pupils’ dress. A good public image can help employment prospects – especially with local employers

We thank all pupils and parents supporting the school's policy on school uniform.
